A portrait of Naomi, once a week, every week, in 2014

- she loves to play in the guest room's bed, putting all her little friends to nap. -

Some of you may remember that there were earlier posts in the blog that were titled something like this - "2/52".  Those posts were for contributions to another blog that Nadia found where people were submitting one portrait a week for 52 weeks of their child.  There were many participants and I even had my first submission that I entered acknowledged by the blog owner and mentioned in the following weeks post :).  But as the weeks past and my days became more busy, I wasn't always able to get a picture submitted for our little Naomi.  This year however, I want to do this, but I will only post on our blog so there is no pressure to feel that I missed a deadline somewhere else.  I will be prompt, and always have a portrait every week, and it will be fun to see the progression as the year goes by.  So here is my first entry.  This photo was taken at or around New Years.  I hope you look forward to each week's portrait!

It's become our little morning tradition.  The morning strolls.  She loves to wave at passer-by's and especially loves looking up at the tall trees.  The garbage trucks kindly offer her a honk with their horns and she says hello.  There something about the morning air that calms her.  There is no better way to start the day than with a walk with her.

We visited a play center with little Naomi for the first time.  She crawled into this cozy tunnel and just sat for a minute, completely fixated on a toy that she had taken with her.  She's such a little explorer.

She loves to stand at the edge of the bath as I fill her tub.  She watches while I toss her little toys one by one into the rising water, anxiously anticipating her plunge into her last adventures of the day.  It's the wind-down before bedtime.  She splashes about, as I watch her get lost in imagination.  It's my favorite part of the day.

Stillness in motion.  There seems to be no better calm for her than in her mothers embrace.

So Nadia came across a really great blog, Che and Fidel, which is a lovely and inspiring blog created by a very talented woman and mother of two, named Jodi.  She started a project which last year she kindly opened to her readers to join in if they desired to do so.  The project is called '52, a portrait a week'.  Here is a link to this year's week 1 submissions. Nadia thought it would be great to include portraits of our baby Naomi which got me very excited.  Upon reading Jodi's blog I immediately darted for the computer to find an image taken in the first week of the year to represent a portrait for Naomi, followed by a photo of her for the second week.  The first week's submissions are closed, but I'll post this one for us to enjoy.  I absolutely love this idea and found it truly inspiring to see so many other loving parents that have created so many amazing blogs for their children.  Makes me feel even prouder to know that we haven't skipped a beat for Naomi and that she will have such a special archive of her life.  I am also excited at the prospect of being able to push my photography further and hopefully capture some amazing shots of Naomi in the process.
